NEON Biorepository Invertebrate Bycatch Collection (Archive Pooling)

Pooled catches of non-Carabid invertebrates collected as bycatch during ground beetle pitfall sampling at terrestrial NEON sites. Sampling Catch collected biweekly (every 14 days) during the green season Ten distributed base plots (pre-2023) or six plots (2023 onward) per site Four traps (pre-2018) or three traps (2018 onward) per plot Methods Pitfall traps (16-oz cups with propylene glycol) Preservation Trap contents sorted into identified adult Carabids, other invertebrates, herpetiles, and small mammals. In this sample type, non-Carabid invertebrate bycatch from traps within a plot are pooled to conserve storage space Stored in 95% ethanol at controlled temperature and humidity
