Key figures on youth care, 2015-2020

This table describes the number of young people with youth care and the number of pathways where the youth care was provided in kind. Young people with youth care are also shown as a percentage of the total number of young people. The numbers of young people and pathways can be broken down by the different forms of youth care and by the municipality responsible for youth care according to the residence principle Youth.

The total number of young people for which the percentage is calculated depends on the type of aid:
youth Care: 0 to 23 years
youth assistance: 0 to 23 years
protection of youth: 0 to 18 years
youth rehabilitation: 12 to 23 years

The aggregation of the number of young people across multiple forms of youth care within a (sub) total may be greater than the (sub) total itself. A young person may have several pathways with different forms of youth care, but each type of care or (sub-) total involves a young person only once.

In order to reflect the situation of young people in the Netherlands, the National Youth Monitor describes more than 70 topics in addition to this topic. The topics are referred to as indicators.

Data available from 2015 to 2020

All figures in this table are definitive.

Amendments as of 29 October 2021:
— The figures for 2020 have been finalised.
— The order of the categories in the regions selection has been adapted. This has no impact on the figures in this table.

When will there be new figures?
