NRS-14544 | Returned soldiers' personal cards [Lands Administration Branch, Water Conservation and Irrigation Commission]

These cards record applications by returned First World War servicemen for farms in the Soldier-Settlement areas of the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area. Applicants for land were interviewed by the three-member Discharged Soldiers' Selection Committee. The information recorded on each card is as follows: card number; applicant's name and address; Regimental number; rank and unit; discharge date and place; Qualification Certificate number and date; farm application date; class of farm desired; Repatriation Department's approval; date of entry to training camp or experiment farm; number and date of farm grant. The details of any Sustenance Grant by the Repatriation Department is also recorded and shows date received and approved, period covered, and rate per week.
