NGS and Nanopore Sequencing of Haima cold seep. marine metagenome

In 2019, sediment samples were collected from the Haima cold seep (-1371m) using a push-core. The sediment core was collected from a site of active methane seepage, and equally divided into four sections. Meanwhile, the core of the control group was collected from an adjacent non-seep site. Both NovaSeq and Nanopore technologies were applied to perform metagenomic sequencing. We reprogrammed EMIRGE (expectation maximization iterative reconstruction of genes from the environment) to retrieve the full-length functional genes from shotgun metagenomic reads.
