Irrigation Company Service Areas

Polygons in this feature service are derived from many sources. These include state divisions' data, irrigation company websites and other online information, shapefiles received from various entities, and some unknown sources. The hope is to discover the unknown sources, or to replace them with new ones. Ideally, all boundaries will be derived with input from irrigation companies. This feature service is a work in progress, and known to not be complete. Overview This feature service contains polygon boundaries representing irrigation company service areas in Utah and the surrounding Bear River basin region. It compiles boundary information from state water resources and water rights sources, irrigation company websites, online references, submissions from external organizations, and other source materials. Content The layer includes service area polygons with attributes that identify the irrigation company name, company identifier, state, county, basin, subarea, land area, source information, edit history, status, water rights references, and related station information. The dataset also tracks acreage and records whether a company has secondary service. Coverage and Stewardship The service is maintained as a living reference layer and receives periodic updates as additional source information becomes available. It is published with Utah Division of Water Resources and Utah Division of Water Rights stewardship and supports shared use by water resource professionals and partner organizations.
