To evaluate the effects of different agricultural production systems on soil microbial communities, high throughput 16S and ITS amplicon sequencing was conducted on soil DNA collected from three agricultural systems (conventional and two organic systems: legume and compost) established nearly 40 years ago at Rodale Institute under the project Farming Systems Trial. Additionally, various soil physicochemical properties were measured.
