Probiotics including lactic acid bacteria stimulate fattening, reproduction and milk production in livestock (Anadon et al., 2006), consequently, they may play a favorable role in the development of obesity. Likewise, Lactobacillus ingluviei showed to promote growth in chicks and mice. The genome of this bacterium in comparison with other sequenced lactobacillus species may help to understand the implication of Lactobacillus in the physiological development of obesity
