Conceptual Phosphate Mineable Limit

The Conceptual Mineable Limit has been determined by geologic and phosphate company prospect data to be the area containing phosphate reserves which are "mineable" under current economic and technological restraints. Thus, it should NEVER be interpreted as a permitted area for mining. It includes some areas within Polk, Hillsborough, Manatee and Hardee, Desoto, and Sarasota counties. This layer was developed to allow the Bureau of Mine Reclamation to perform presentations, and illustrations of such land boundaries which will facilitate the management of these lands and allows the bureau to perform regional analysis of the mineable phosphate limit in central Florida. Layer was created and maintained by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Bureau of Mine Reclamation.
