"A gold miner's cabin in California in 1849", stereoscopic photograph, New Educational Series, American and Foreign Views, circa 1890s. The view, originally published in a curved format, but reprinted in a rectangular one, shows a man sitting in a chair and reading outside a crude log cabin in a woodsy, sylvan setting. On what may be a tree stump are possibly some mining implements and there is a pile of wood and, perhaps, a hollowed out flume. On the right side of the cabin a ladder is propped up. The caption is at the left image and at the left and right sides are printed descriptive information, not including, however, the manufacturer or photographer. In fair condition, the item has losses to corners, creases, torn paper exposing the mount at the edges. stains and other damage, though the view is still clear.
