资源简介:
In AP Sepsis-related complications are mostly seen in the late stage of the disease. Several studies have suggested that the gut is the major source of infections in AP, this is supported by the identification of intestinal gram-negative bacteria in clinical settings. Earlier studies reported that excessive release of inflammatory cytokines during AP is one of the primary reason for intestinal barrier injury. Numerous studies have shown that changes in gut permeability occur soon after the onset of AP, and clinical studies have linked the severity of AP with gut barrier failure. Changes in intestinal permeability result in bacterial translocation which in turn triggers the development of secondary infections. However, the link between gut microbial dysbiosis and loss of permeability in AP is not completely studied. This study was focused to evaluate the alterations in the gut microbiota and barrier integrity during the early course of the disease using experimental settings.
