A full list of selected plants is available in Table S1.For each group of plants (GP) the number of sequences obtained (N) and the number of Molecular Operational Taxonomic Units (MOTUs) were listed for each marker and their combinations. Based on these values the discriminatory efficiency was calculated as percentage of correctly identified species (%).
