Transience of Riparian Freshwater Lenses

The
transience of riparian lens movement is investigated for the first time,
considering a fully penetrating, gaining river and rapid variations in
hydraulic boundary conditions. Controlled laboratory experiments and numerical
modeling are used to determine the timescales associated with lens movements. The
insights into riparian lenses transience attained from the current study build
on the understanding of transience obtained for other mixed-convective
hydrogeological processes, such as seawater intrusion and retreat.

本研究首次针对完全穿透型补给河流以及水力边界条件快速变化的场景，开展河岸透镜体（riparian lens）运移暂态特性的研究。本研究通过可控室内实验与数值模拟方法，明确了与透镜体运移相关的时间尺度。本研究获得的关于河岸透镜体暂态特性的认知，建立在海水入侵与退侵等其他混合对流水文地质过程暂态特性的既有理解基础之上。
