This dataset contains all data files and R Markdown documents necessary to evaluate and repeat analyses presented in the manuscript: \"Downregulation of the bacterial protein biosynthesis machinery in response to weeks, years, and decades of soil warming\"
The study provides a first in-depth functional analysis of microbial responses to medium- (8 y) and long-term (>50 y) soil warming using a metatranscriptomics approach, i.e., high-throughput shotgun-sequencing of total RNA. Key finding: Soil warming induces a decrease of bacterial protein synthesis complexes (i.e. ribosomes), promoting high rates of growth and carbon dioxide production.
It is recommended to execute the R Markdown files in their given order (file numbers) to follow and re-create key figures and intermediate data files.
Please see related publication for additional details.
