DRASTIC parameter "I - Impact of Vadose Zone" for pilot area Oder (Poland/Germany)

The Lower Oder / Odra pilot area is the only transboundary region assessing the groundwater vulnerability in GeoERA HOVER WP7 applying the DRASTIC methodology. The pilot area has an extent of about 7374 km2 and comprises parts of the groundwater catchment of the Middle and Lower Oder river of Western Poland and Eastern Germany. The considered near-surface strata consist of Cenozoic unconsolidated sediment. The assessment aims on the groundwater vulnerability to pollution of the upper useful aquifer, which is not necessarily the uppermost aquifer. The groundwater of this aquifer is primarily used for drinking water and irrigation purposes. According to Aller et al. (1987) the DRASTIC parameter "I" provides a rating with values from 1 to 10 concerning the rock material covering the aquifer for the assessment of the groundwater vulnerability.applying the DRASTIC method.下奥得河（Odra）试点区域是GeoERA HOVER WP7项目中唯一一个采用DRASTIC方法（DRASTIC）评估地下水脆弱性的跨界区域。该试点区域总面积约7374平方千米，涵盖波兰西部与德国东部的中奥得河、下奥得河流域地下水汇水区的部分范围。本次评估涉及的近地表地层为新生代松散沉积物。本次评估旨在针对上层可用含水层的地下水污染脆弱性开展评价，该含水层未必是地层最顶部的含水层。该含水层的地下水主要用于饮用水供给与农业灌溉。根据Aller等人1987年的研究成果，DRASTIC方法中的参数“I”针对含水层上覆的岩石介质，围绕地下水脆弱性评估需求设置了1至10的评级分值，本次评估即采用该方法开展。
