Preliminary log of core GC04, collected from the southeastern side of the New Caledonian Basin

Core GC04 was collected from the southeastern side of the New Caledonian Basin. The upper 140cm of the core was used in this study and was composed of very fine yellow-brown coloured clay. The sediments are slightly laminated, indicative of a low energy deposition regime. The core also shows 'black specks' in different concentrations, which is indicative of the appearance of a darker, non-carbonate fraction.

GC04号岩心（Core GC04）采集自新喀里多尼亚盆地（New Caledonian Basin）东南侧。本研究选取该岩心顶部140 cm的沉积物开展研究，其岩性为极细粒黄褐色黏土。该沉积物发育微弱层理，指示低能沉积环境（low energy deposition regime）。此外，该岩心中可见不同浓度分布的“黑色斑点”，这表明存在暗色非碳酸盐组分（non-carbonate fraction）。
