The discovery of a pulsar with a small angular offset from the Blazar OJ287 would significantly increase the chances of the pulsar timing array projects detecting gravitational waves from a supermassive binary black hole binary system. A survey with Parkes found no such pulsar and so we plan to search deeper with the FAST telescope. However, FAST cannot cover (in a reasonable time) the necessary sky area and so we propose to use ASKAP to identify pointing directions in which there is a reasonable chance that a pulsar exists.
