Strategic Research Initiative - Road Safety, 2015

The purpose of this project was basic research and accumulation of knowledge on traffic safety. The project was a so-called SIS that lasted from 2011 to 2015.

The project proposes research in three main areas:
1) Basic questions and methodological issues, which include accident reporting and accident modelling, the valuation of road safety and the evaluation of road safety measures.
2) Interactions between road users, system elements, and technology, in which the main areas include the high risk faced by young and inexperienced drivers, elderly road users, observation of road user behaviour in natural settings, intelligent transport systems and behavioural adaptation and effects of promoting non-motorized transport.
3) Factors influencing road safety and road safety policy, which comprises public acceptance of safety levels and safety measures, safety management and organization and cross fertilization of safety theories between different modes of transport.

本项目旨在开展交通安全领域的基础研究与知识积累，是一项为期2011年至2015年的SIS研究计划。

本项目围绕三大核心研究领域展开相关研究：
1） 基础问题与方法论议题：涵盖事故报告、事故建模、道路安全价值评估以及道路安全措施的效果评价。
2） 道路使用者、系统要素与技术之间的交互关系：核心研究方向包括年轻与经验不足驾驶员所面临的高安全风险、老年道路使用者群体、自然场景下的道路使用者行为观测、智能运输系统（intelligent transport systems）、行为适应，以及非机动化交通推广所产生的效应。
3） 影响道路安全与道路安全政策的各类因素：具体包含公众对安全水平与安全措施的接受度、安全管理与组织架构，以及不同交通方式间安全理论的交叉融合。
