Situational Analysis of Breeder Seed Use and Delivery in Nigeria and Ghana

The SeEDEQUAL Initiative is an integral part of Genetic Innovation in the One CGIAR Action Area. It is intended for a better CG/NARS breeding impact by focusing on delivering genetic gain of crops in farmers’ fields and an enhanced varietal turnover through formal and farmer-based seed delivery channels. Work package 3 of the initiative is geared towards scaling and delivery of planting materials of vegetatively propagated crops. In the case of yam, it aims to understand channels for use of Breeder seed to prime sustainable formal seed system.

SeEDEQUAL计划（SeEDEQUAL Initiative）是一体化CGIAR（One CGIAR）行动领域内遗传创新工作的有机组成部分。本计划聚焦于实现农户田块中作物的遗传增益，并依托正规种子配送渠道与农户参与式种子配送渠道加快品种更新，旨在强化CGIAR与国家农业研究系统（CG/NARS）的育种影响力。本计划的工作包3（Work Package 3）致力于规模化推广并交付无性繁殖作物（vegetatively propagated crops）的种植材料。以山药为例，该工作包旨在探明利用育种家种子（Breeder seed）构建可持续正规种子体系的可行渠道。
