The number of individuals screened for all five loci is indicated (n); mean values for the number of alleles (a), allelic richness (r), observed heterozygosity (Ho), expected heterozygosity (He), and inbreeding coefficient (FIS) were also estimated for all populations. Analyses excluding the locus RpL12 are indicated by ‘*’. Cotton populations where FIS* estimates either remained unchanged (values in bold) or decreased (values underlined) through the exclusion of the RpL12 locus are indicated by ‘c’.
