VPRS 16836 Yearly Lists of Nursing Staff and Trainees

This series consists of lists of nursing staff and trainees on the staff at the Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) in a given year. Nursing assistants are sometimes included too.The purpose of the volumes is subject to further research though they may have provided the basis for annual reporting to the Nurses Board. They may also have served as a ready reference to staff employed at the hospital at any given time.Comments record when individual nurses completed their training and whether they remained on staff or left the hospital. Concessions (given by the Nurses Board) to training periods are also recorded. This information provides a snapshot of each nurse's career at any point of time. RCH Trainees are distinguished from those who trained elsewhere by entry dates being recorded in red.Volumes 9-10 record staff employed at the hospital's campuses at Frankston; Brighton, Sherbrooke and Macedon Convalescent Homes.The maintenance of lists prior to 1923 and after 1971 is subject to further research. The whereabouts of lists for 1959 to 1961 is unknown.Prior to transfer to Public Record Office Victoria, the records in this series were maintained as part of the Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) Archives. They were part of RCH accession number 2007/006 and possibly 2005/004.
