Accident and emergency attendances in England 2007-2024, by department type

In 2023/24, there were 17.1 million accident and emergency attendances in major A&E departments and another 7.6 million accidents in minor injuries and walk-in centers. A&E attendance dropped significantly in 2020/21 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, 2021/22 figures indicate that A&E attendance was no longer affected by the pandemic.
