The TaxAI dataset is a dynamic economic simulator developed by the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, specifically designed for research on optimal tax policies. This dataset is based on the Bewley-Aiyagari economic model, simulating the interactions between the government, firms, financial institutions, and 10,000 households. The dataset is calibrated with real-world data to enhance the scale and realism of the simulations. Beyond being a simulator, TaxAI also serves as a benchmark for evaluating and comparing different economic methodologies and multi-agent reinforcement learning algorithms. The application fields of this dataset include optimizing government tax policies, studying the optimal savings and labor strategies of households, and analyzing the impacts of various economic policies on social welfare and wealth distribution.
