2003-2021 A Systematic Scoping Review of the Social Vulnerability Index as Applied to Natural Hazards

We conducted a rigorous search criterion specifically looking at the “Social Vulnerability Index” in the context of natural hazards and disasters. We incorporated “Related-Search Terms” (RSTs) and “Medical Subject Headings” (MeSH) in our search in six different scholarly databases, enabling 57 different hazards and disaster terms to be in our string search criteria and an initial 817 articles to be found. We omitted duplicates, then followed guidance from JBI (previously, the Joanna Briggs Institute) for exclusion and inclusion decisions. After assessing for eligibility, 289 articles were left qualified for review. An additional 43 articles were omitted during the assessment process.

We ended with evaluating how 246 peer-reviewed articles, published online between 2003–2021, conceptualized, constructed, and applied SVIs across 20 distinct hazard and disaster contexts in 91 countries. We did this through an originally created questionnaire (provided), with each article assessed thoroughly for the corresponding answers.

本研究针对自然灾害与灾害场景下的社会脆弱性指数（Social Vulnerability Index, SVI）制定了严格的检索策略。本次检索依托6个专业学术数据库，纳入相关检索词（Related-Search Terms, RSTs）与医学主题词（Medical Subject Headings, MeSH），构建包含57种灾害相关术语的检索式，初始检索共获取817篇文献。研究首先剔除重复文献，随后遵循JBI（原乔安娜·布里格斯研究所，Joanna Briggs Institute）的文献纳入与排除标准开展筛选。经资格评估后，初步有289篇文献符合评审要求；后续评审过程中又剔除了43篇文献。

最终纳入246篇2003年至2021年间在线发表的同行评议文献，针对91个国家的20类灾害场景下社会脆弱性指数的概念界定、构建方法与实际应用展开系统分析。本研究通过自主研发的问卷（随本研究提供）对每篇文献进行全面评估，逐一提取对应研究维度的相关信息。
