Local government; development of EMU balance, receivables and debts

Under the FIDO Act (=Financing Decentralised Authorities) CBS reports every quarter since 2001 to the Ministry of Finances on the EMU balance of 5 levels of government; municipalities, provinces, water boards, common regulations and police regions. To this end, the local authorities concerned receive a quarterly survey— form (paper or e-mail) in which they have some items on the financial account must be filled in. CBS calculates the EMU balances. Each a high response to the survey (more than 90 %) is achieved quarterly. The data usually appear on StatLine about a quarter after end of the reporting period. The data for a specific the reporting period shall be reviewed twice. In July, a year after the reporting period and in July two years after the reporting period so that member can be at the initial positions or the final positions of the balance sheet items from the annual accounts.
