资源简介:
The Southern California Seismographic Network (SCSN) Data Set was
collected using over 300 seismic instruments in the Southern
California area collecting data on hypocentral, phase and digital
waveform information. Archived data sets include:
- SCSN EARTHQUAKE CATALOG
- SCEC_DC EARTHQUAKE CATALOG
- PHASE INFORMATION
- DIGITAL WAVEFORM DATA
These data sets are accessible via the World Wide Web at:
or via anonymous FTP:
>ftp scec.gps.caltech.edu in directory /pub/catalogs
"ftp://scec.gps.caltech.edu/pub/catalogs"
The following information was extracted from the README files in the
/pub/catalogs directory:
CATALOG DATA
------------
The earthquake catalog of the SCSN consists of data from 1932
through the present. It is complete for local events greater than or
equal to M3.0 since 1932, and above M1.8 since 1981. Between the time
periods of January 1984 - April 23, 1992, and January 1993 through
January 16, 1994, and February 7, 1994 to the present it is complete
for all magnitude events. The catalog is expected to be complete for
events of M2.5 and greater recorded between April 23, 1993 and January
1, 1993 by the middle of 1994. Processing of aftershocks for the
Northridge earthquake is complete. Therefore magnitudes for these
events are still preliminary and subject to change
Catalog data in the Caltech format is stored in yearly ascii *.cat
files. Beginning with 1977, these files cover a time period of one
year. Events from 1932 to 1959 are listed in 193259.cat; 1960 to 1976
events in 196076.cat.
The SCEC_DC catalog consists of hypocentral information for the
following time periods.
July 1, 1981 - January 31, 1983
July 13, 1983 - present
These time periods represent the time periods for which "digital"
waveform and phase arrival data are available from the SCEC_DC.
The catalog is complete for all local events greater than or equal to
M3.0. Between 1981 and April 23, 1992, and February 7, 1994 to the
present, the catalog is complete for events down to M1.8. The catalog
is expected to be complete for all events recorded between April 23,
1992 and December 31, 1992 (the Joshua Tree-Landers- Big Bear
sequence) by the middle of 1995. Processing of the Northridge
sequence aftershocks has been completed - except for magnitude
calibrations. Be aware that some of the magnitudes are therefore
still preliminary.
