Ultrasonic guided waves in a composite overwrapped pressure vessel under operational conditions - Damage Cases

This dataset contains ultrasonic guided wave (UGW) measurements acquired on a composite overwrapped pressure vessel (COPV) under varying temperature and internal pressure conditions in two damage case scenarios: Artificial damage: Two aluminium blocks (200 g each) glued on the surface of the vessel. Real damage: A drilled hole of 8 mm diameter and a depth of 50% the vessel thickness. The pressure was adjusted from 700 bar down to 50 bar in steps of 50 bar, with an additional final step to 20 bar. A second round of pressure at the same levels in a random sequence was also employed. Simultaneously, the surrounding temperature was varied between 25°C and 55°C in six levels. UGWs were excited and recorded using a network of DuraAct patch piezoelectric transducers mounted on the COPV surface. A total of 25 sensors, arranged in five circumferential rings, were deployed for this study. Six excitation signals were used to cover multiple carrier frequencies: five tone bursts and one chirp, each repeated three times at every pressure level.
