Living longer without simultaneously extending years spent in good health ('healthspan') is an increasing societal burden, demanding new therapeutic discovery. Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) can correct disease-related mitochondrial metabolic deficiencies, and supraphysiological H2S concentrations can prolong healthspan. However, the efficacy, and mechanisms of mitochondria-targeted sulfide delivery molecules (mtH2S) administered across the adult lifecourse is unknown. Transcriptomics was thus employed to examine molecular responses of C. elegans to mitochondrial sulfide across different ages of the lifecourse.
