The Boots Site (32MZ732) is located in upland rolling hills dissected by deep woody
draws leading to the Missouri River, which has been dammed to form Lake Sakakawea. A
stratigraphic column with a base prior to BC 5700-5575, near the terminal end of the Paleo-
Indian and transition to the Early Plains Archaic for this area, was examined to provide a record
of vegetation. The vegetation record should coincide with paleoenvironmental conditions and
provide information that may have influenced human occupation of this area through time.
