Accrued AOW pension rights; gender, age and marital status 2015-2021

The table provides insight into the average number of insured years and the average accrual rate for the General Old Age Act (AOW) of persons in and outside the Netherlands in the accrual phase for the AOW pension at the end of the reporting year. The total insured period of a person is determined by the period during which he or she was insured during the preceding fifty years at the age of AOW. Until 2013, the AOW pension age was 65 years old. After this, it is linked to life expectancy. See “Definitions” for a table with the AOW age per year. Data is available from: 2015 Status of the figures: The figures up to and including 2020 are more preliminary. The figures for 2021 are provisional. CBS is moving on to a new classification of the population by origin. From now on, it is more decisive where someone was born, in addition to where one’s parents were born. The word ‘migration background’ is no longer used. The main division of Western/Non-Western is replaced by a classification based on continents and common immigration countries. This classification is gradually introduced in tables and publications with population by origin. Amendments as of 21 December 2023: None, this table has been discontinued.
