Forest protection — Haute-Garonne

Protection forest (Articles L.411-1 to L.413-1 of the Forest Code)
Forests may be classified as protective forests, for reasons of public utility (Article L411-1 of the Forest Code):- forests whose conservation is deemed necessary for the maintenance of land on mountains and slopes, for protection against avalanches, erosions and flooding of waters and sands;- woods and forests, regardless of their owners, located on the periphery of large agglomerations, and in areas where maintenance is required, either for ecological reasons or for the welfare of the population.

防护林（Protection forest）：依据《森林法典》第L.411-1条至第L.413-1条之规定
出于公共效用考量，森林可被归类为防护林（《森林法典》第L.411-1条），具体分为以下两类：
- 为维持山地与坡地的地表稳定性、抵御雪崩、水土流失及水沙泛滥而需予以管护的森林；
- 无论权属归属如何，坐落于大型聚居区周边，且因生态维护需求或保障民众福祉而需开展管护的林木与林地
