The aim of this work is to to perform a characterization of the repeatome of Calendula officinalis L., which includes high-throughput, low-coverage DNA sequencing and genome-wide bioinformatics analysis using RepeatExplorer pipelines. We also carried out FISH chromosomal mapping of identified specific satDNAs on the chromosomes of C. officinalis and related species C. stellata, C. tripterocarpa and C. arvensis, and also searching new chromosome markers, to provide information about the changes occurred in their genomes during speciation.
