Ovis saliva MAG1 includes 1,008,565 bases in 312 contigs generated from ovine saliva BioSample SAMN35719488 (SRR24915806). Reads from this metagenome shared 94% containment ANI with Neisseriaceae isolate HSC-16F19 (DDBJ/ENA/GenBank accession JALJZY000000000, NCBI assembly accession is GCA_024171525.1) using the Branchwater Metagenome Query. Reads from the ovine saliva metagenome were imported from the NCBI SRA into KBase, where they were quality filtered using Trimmomatic v0.39, and assembled de novo using MetaSPAdes v1.3.4. Contigs were initially binned using MetaBAT2 v1.7, their quality assessed using CheckM v1.0.18, medium and high quality bins were annotated using RASTtk to generate genome objects, and they were inserted into GTDB-based species trees using the KBase species tree workflow. Though multiple high quality MAGs were generated, no sister taxa to HSC-16F19 were identified. As SRA Krona views indicated HSC-16F19 was present within the Ovis saliva metagenome, the contigs generated were then classified using Kaiju and 312 were assigned to HSC-16F19 (Kaiju database ID: 2910969). These were extracted, merged into a bin designated Ovis saliva MAG1 and compared to HSC-16F19 using FastANI v1.34. Ovis saliva MAG1 shared 92.32% ANI with HSC-16F19 and represents another species in a proposed novel genus.
