Analysis of Groucho localization and function in the early Drosophila embryo. Drosophila melanogaster

In this study, the transcriptomes of staged Drosophila melanogaster embryos were assayed in genetic backgrounds providing multiple levels of Groucho (Gro), a transcription factor involved in several developmental processes. These include embryos either expressing wild-type levels of Gro, maternally depleted for Gro, or overexpressing Gro at multiple levels. The genome-wide occupancy of Gro at multiple stages of embryonic development was assayed via ChIP-seq. Additionally, embryonic chromatin-associated RNA was isolated and subjected to high-throughput sequencing to gain insight into potential mechanisms of Gro-mediated repression.
