Amplicon based sequencing of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) isolated from 16 wastewater catchments in Jefferson County, Kentucky USA over a multi-week period

This project focused on SARS-CoV-2 weekly surveillance in wastewater samples from 16 catchment sites across Jefferson County, Kentucky USA. The objective of the project is to determine the population level diversity of SARS-CoV-2 at the different sites, including detection of the frequency of single nucleotide polymorphisms associated with variants of concern (VOC) and variants of interest (VOI). The resulting information was shared with public health officials to inform decisions on clinical sampling and public health, such as mobile vaccination sites.
