Transience of Riparian Freshwater Lenses

The transience of riparian lens movement is investigated for the first time, considering a fully penetrating, gaining river and rapid variations in hydraulic boundary conditions. Controlled laboratory experiments and numerical modeling are used to determine the timescales associated with lens movements. The insights into riparian lenses transience attained from the current study build on the understanding of transience obtained for other mixed-convective hydrogeological processes, such as seawater intrusion and retreat.

本研究首次针对完全穿透型补给河流，且考虑水力边界条件快速变化的情形，开展河岸透镜体（riparian lens）运移瞬态特性的相关研究。研究采用受控室内试验与数值模拟方法，确定与透镜体运移相关的时间尺度。本研究获得的河岸透镜体瞬态特性相关认识，是基于海水入侵与退缩等其他混合对流水文地质过程的瞬态特性研究的既有认知所构建的。
