资源简介:

The alfioshear_rep contains the full wave code that simulates the Alfvénic interaction of Io with Jupiter's Magnetosphere and Ionosphere. For more details, see Lysak et al. (2023) paper at https://doi. org/10.1029/2022JA031180. The changes made here involve adjusting the grid resolutions in all dimensions, and we added MPI parallelization on top of the already existing OpenMP parallelization. Additionally, the field output is written to HDF files, unlike the original code, which outputs binary files. To run this, we required 2,500 cores to be allocated for 24 hours on the Agate node of the Minnesota Supercomputer Institute (MSI). We also included the input (alfio.dat) and the job request we used (alfjup3d_job.slrm). The Matlab scripts that read the output files and generate the figures with the output data are listed below. init_data.mat - this file contains six rows of the particle tag number, x,y,z, coordinates in RJ, energy in MeV, and pitch angle in degree for the initial distribution. This data was saved in single precision format, as double precision is too large to save in .dat format. plot_figure1.m - this script reads init_data.dat file and creates plots of Figure 1a-c of the article. The Matlab codes used to make the Movie S1 and Movie S2 of the article are: field_io_emu_lat_long.m and field_io_emu_long_lshell.m, respectively. field_io_enu_long_lshell.m make a movie of the perpendicular electric field where Figure 2d is a snapshot of this movie. poyntingflux_long_lshell.m make a move of the Poynting flux at a specified latitude against L-shell and longitude. Figures 3a and 3b are snapshots from this movie. The director "rdir" in the routines that make the movies should be the same as the location of the full-wave outputs. grid.out, and coords.out of the full-wave simulations must also move to the same directory. The output for the wave simulations is 1.6 TB. We did not upload this file as it is too large, but it can be reproduced by running the full-wave simulation code. trj_data.dat - the electron trajectory data. It contains eight rows of particle tag number, time, x,y,z coordinates, energy, pitch angle, and parallel electric field at the particle position. plot_figure_4.m -this script reads trj_data.dat and produces Figure 4 of the manuscript. run_full.dat - This is a seven-row dataset of electrons precipitating on the ionosphere. The data include particle tag number, time, x, y, z coordinates, energy (in MeV), and pitch angle (in degrees). This run is used to produce Figure 5, 6 and 11. plot_figure_5_11.m -plots the Figures 5a and 5b, and Figure 11a-d. It uses the output run_full.dat. plot_figure6.m -plots the Figures 6a and 6b. It uses the output run_full.dat. The same data as above. run30s_5eV_maw_n.dat is seven rows of data of electrons precipitating on the ionosphere. The data include particle tag number, time, x, y, z coordinates, energy (in MeV), and pitch angle (in degrees). It is used to produce Figures 7 and 12. plot_figure_7a.m plots the figure used in Figure7a and Figure 12. It uses the output data run30s_5eV_maw_n.dat. plot_figure_7b.m plots the figure used in Figure7b. It uses the output data from test particle simulations saved in run30s_5eV_maw_n.dat. The same data set as above. run_maw_s.dat is seven rows of data of electrons precipitating on the ionosphere. The data include particle tag number, time, x, y, z coordinates, energy (in MeV), and pitch angle (in degrees). It is used to produce Figure 8. plot_figure_8a.m plots the figure used in Figure 8a. It uses the output data run_maw_s.dat. plot_figure_8b.m plots the figure used in Figure 8b. It uses the output data run_maw_s.dat. run_raw_n.dat is seven rows of data of electrons precipitating on the ionosphere. The data include particle tag number, time, x, y, z coordinates, energy (in MeV), and pitch angle (in degrees). It is used to produce Figure 9. plot_figure_9a.m plots the figure used in Figure 9a. It uses the output data run_raw_n.dat. plot_figure_9b.m plots the figure used in Figure 9b. It uses the output data run_raw_n.dat. run600s_300eV_maw_n.dat is seven rows of data of electrons precipitating on the ionosphere. The data include particle tag number, time, x, y, z coordinates, energy (in MeV), and pitch angle (in degrees). It is used to produce Figures 10 and 12. plot_figure_10a_12.m plots the figure used in Figures 10a and 12. This uses the output data run600s_300eV_maw_n.dat. plot_figure_10b.m plots the figure used in Figure 10b. It uses the output data run600s_300eV_maw_n.dat.
