Finding the pulsar born in SN 1987A would be of major significance. It would be by far the youngest pulsar known and would enable unique investigations of the early evolution and birth properties of a pulsar, as well as acting as a probe of the circumstellar and interstellar medium. We propose to use the new Ultra-Wideband Low (UWL) receiver to attempt confirmation of dispersed pulse candidates from previous P834 observations, to search for more isolated (giant) pulses and to continue the search for periodic emission from a pulsar associated with SN 1987A. The UWL receiver, with its much wider bandwidth and much lower system noise compared to the 10cm/50cm system will allow searches with much higher sensitivity.

搜寻与1987A超新星(SN 1987A)一同诞生的脉冲星(pulsar)具有极为重要的科学意义。该脉冲星将是迄今为止已知最年轻的脉冲星,可开展针对脉冲星早期演化与诞生特性的独特研究,同时亦可作为探测星周介质与星际介质(circumstellar and interstellar medium)的探针。我们计划采用新型超宽带低(UWL)接收机,尝试证认此前P834观测中得到的色散脉冲候选体,搜寻更多孤立(巨)脉冲,并持续搜寻与1987A超新星关联的脉冲星的周期性辐射。相较于10cm/50cm系统,该UWL接收机拥有更宽的带宽与更低的系统噪声,可实现灵敏度更高的观测搜寻。
