Sequencing of total RNA from human naevi and adjacent normal skin

Using whole-transcriptome sequencing, we evaluated 32 naevi (and adjacent perilesional skin) characterised by histopathology and dermoscopic patterns, to reveal a novel gene-set enriched in actively growing naevi. Overall design: Human naevi were surgically excised, and both the lesions and adjacent normal skin (perilesional tissue) were microdissected. Total RNA was extracted from naevi and perilesional samples, and RNA-seq libraries were prepared and subjected to high-throughput deep sequencing.
