Geology of the Gilberton

These data are a digital representation of information depicted on the printed map of the Gilberton 1:250 000 Geological Series produced by AGSO and the Geological Survey of Queensland (GSQ) in 1977 (2nd edition).Data present include geological polygons (litho-stratigraphic units), linear structural features (faults, dykes, folds, trends, lineaments etc), and point features (mines, structural points etc). Polygons have a range of attributes extracted from each individual map including unit name, age and lithological description, while lines and points are feature coded according to the AGSO publication 'Symbols Used On Geological Maps' (BMR 1989). A standard look-up table of AGSO geological codes and associated descriptions is available (see ADDITIONAL METADATA).The data has gradually evolved from elementary CAD quality data into its present topologically structured GIS format, and hence has many imperfections and inconsistencies. Data has undergone rigorous validation and testing that includes over 80 different tests. See ADDITIONAL METADATA for more information on the data standards used.

本数据集为1977年由澳大利亚地质科学局（AGSO）与昆士兰州地质调查局（Geological Survey of Queensland, GSQ）编制的第二版吉尔伯顿1:250000地质系列印刷地图所载信息的数字化表达。本数据集所载内容包括地质多边形（岩性地层单元）、线性构造要素（断层、岩脉、褶皱、构造走向、线性构造等）以及点要素（矿山、构造点位等）。地质多边形附带从单幅地图中提取的多类属性信息，包括单元名称、形成年代与岩性描述；线性要素与点要素则依据AGSO发布的《地质图用符号规范》（BMR 1989）完成要素编码。AGSO地质编码及其关联描述的标准查找表可参见附加元数据（ADDITIONAL METADATA）。本数据集从最初的基础计算机辅助设计（CAD）级数据逐步演进为当前的拓扑结构化地理信息系统（GIS）格式，因此存在诸多不完善与不一致之处。本数据集已通过包含80余项不同测试在内的严格验证与检测，所用数据标准的详细信息可参见ADDITIONAL METADATA。
