Permanent Velo Counting data — Hourly values (tracking set)

**The follow-up of this record has been discontinued. Instead, the following, weekly updated, data set [“Automatic foot and bicycle counting data — quarter-hour values”](https://data.stadt-zuerich.ch/dataset/verkehrszaehlungen-werte-fussgaenger-velo) can be used.** The census data is collected by the Civil Engineering Office of the City of Zurich in its own direction. The permanent bicycle counting points are installed throughout the city area. The registration of bicycle traffic is carried out by induction loops embedded in the road surface. When crossing, the rims of the velos, provided they contain metal, produce an electromagnetic pulse, which triggers the counting. This is done completely anonymously. The Velodata are important analytical foundations for assessing the volume of bicycles at the respective locations and their long-term development.
