VPRS 4981 Roll of Approved Applicants (to Foster Children)

These rolls were used to facilitate retrieval of information about approved applicants, dates children were selected and subsequent comments about eligibility of foster parents and accommodation.Information in the roll includes: applicant's number, name and address, age of wife (and sometimes of husband), occupation of husband or household income per week, sex and ages of children in family, religion, preferred sex and age of child to be fostered and other details such as ward number of child selected, date child or children went to a foster family. (Details included vary over time.)The series in custody appears to be incomplete as it only contains volumes pertaining to Roman Catholic applicants from 1918. Due to gaps within the applicant numbers winthin the records in custody (P0000 consignment as at 2004), it would appear that rolls were created for other religious denominations that have not been transferred to custody. It is is also apparent that Roman Catholic rolls were created prior to 1918. A Roman Catholic roll (or rolls) for the period c 1931 - May 1936 has also not been transferred.

当前馆藏的该系列档案似乎并不完整，仅收录了1918年起罗马天主教申请人的相关卷宗。由于馆藏记录（2004年移交的P0000批次）中存在申请人编号的缺失，可以推断此前曾为其他宗教教派的申请人制作过名册，但这些名册并未移交至馆藏中。同时可以明确的是，罗马天主教申请人的名册早在1918年之前就已编制。约1931年至1936年5月期间的罗马天主教申请人名册（一份或多份）同样未完成移交。
