Three sand/silt lens samples from the same layer were extracted from a fluvial fill terrace of the Filyos River, downstream from the Filyos River Gorge and at the confluence of the Şimşir River, which incises Şeker Canyon. The ages were used to learn the timing of aggradation in relation to an overlying alluvial fan. Ages were also used to estimate an incision rate in response to uplift.
