Parent item: IDRA weather radar measurements - month 2011-04 Measuring instrument: IDRA atmospheric radar in CESAR observatory, Cabauw IRCTR has built a high resolution radar system, IDRA (IRCTR Drizzle Radar), aimed at the detailed observation of the spatial and temporal distribution of rainfall and drizzle. The system was placed at the end of August 2007 on top of a 213 m high meteorological tower in the CESAR (Cabauw Experimental Site for Atmospheric Research) observatory in Cabauw, The Netherlands. This location has several advantages: In the first place, an increased sensitivity due to the reduction of the influence of ground clutter. Secondly, it allows direct observation of the horizontal distribution of low level clouds and fog. Finally, the presence of other instruments in the vicinity enhances the understanding of the physical processes in the atmosphere by synergistically combining their measurements. Data from other instruments at CESAR are available at {http://www.cesar-database.nl}. IDRA provides the horizontal distribution of reflectivity, mean Doppler velocity, Doppler spectrum width and polarimetric parameters like differential reflectivity, linear depolarization ratio or specific differential phase. The data collected is freely available to the scientific community.

卡堡IRCTR搭建了一套高分辨率雷达系统IDRA(IRCTR毛毛雨雷达),旨在精准观测降雨与毛毛雨的时空分布特征。该系统于2007年8月末部署于上述CESAR观测站内一座213米高的气象塔塔顶。
该观测点位具备多项显著优势:其一,地面杂波影响大幅削弱,系统探测灵敏度得以提升;其二,可直接开展低层云与雾的水平分布观测;其三,观测站周边配备多台配套观测仪器,通过协同整合多源观测数据,能够深化对大气物理过程的认知。

IDRA系统可输出反射率(reflectivity)、平均多普勒速度(mean Doppler velocity)、多普勒谱宽(Doppler spectrum width)等核心观测参数,以及差分反射率(differential reflectivity)、线性退极化比(linear depolarization ratio)、差分相移率(specific differential phase)等偏振参数的水平分布数据。本数据集所收录的观测数据面向全球科研社群免费开放。
