Effects of melatonin derivatives on gene expressions in human normal keratincytes

The aim of this study was to test the effects of melatonin derivatives on gene expressions in human normal keratincytes. Overall design: mRNAs were isolated from normal human epidermal keratinocytes treated with10^-5 M melatonin, 6-hydroxymelatonin and AFMK. We utilized RNA-sequencing in order to compare changes in the gene expression profiles in human normal keratinocytes treated with melatonin and its derivatives in comparison to vehicle control. There are significant changes in gene expression profile in cells treated with melatonin and its metabolites in comparison to cells treated with of ethanol (0.1%) solvent. Analysis show up and down regulation of many genes with common or diverse pattern for the compounds tested. The significance of the changes is analyzed using IPA and other bioinformatics tools.
