HIV-1 Tat and gp120 in CNS of mice with Parkinson's disease

We investigated whether HIV-1 Tat and gp120 proteins accelerates Parkinson's disease pathology in a transgenic mouse model harbouring the Gba L444P and hSNCA A53T mutations, which are known to trigger Parkinson's disease-like neurodegeneration. This work aims to determin whether Tat and gp120 injection can exacerbate disease manifestations, as well as to identify differentially expressed genes and better understand the mechanisms underlying CNS damage associated with HIV infection.
