This series is a ledger which records all materials being received into and transferred or issued out of the stores of Castlemaine Gaol. It records the movement of stocks in and out of the Gaol's central stores. As each entry for the receipt or issue of goods is registered, a balance is given of the quantity remaining in stock. Thus this series also performs the functions of an inventory, providing periodic balances.
