Reclamation of open-pit mining (surface mining) sites is critical to achieving global ecosystem restoration goals. With the advancement of data availability and technology, scaling up restoration monitoring from individual mining sites to multiple sites on a large scale has become feasible. This study presents a novel method for monitoring the restoration efficacy of multiple mining sites, and provides actionable information for government managers to formulate mine reclamation plans and sustainable mining development strategies.
