Emergence of neurons in enteric neurosphere culture

These images were taken to test the hypothesis that glial cells isolated from the myenteric ganglia of the enteric nervous system can differentiate into neurons. Cells from the LMMP layer of Baf53b::Cre;R26tdT mouse intestine were digested to a single cell suspension and sorted into tdT+ and tdT- fractions. The tdT- cells were then immediately placed in suspension culture. Immunoflouresence imaging of was performed on these cultured cells after seven days. tdT+ cells were clearly identified in the neurosphere cultures after seven days. This demonstrates the emergence of nascent neurons in neurosphere cultures.
