译文（贡迈）：此故事发生于往昔。一日，一头鹿在丛林中游荡。正驻足沉吟之际，它瞥见一株醋栗（gooseberry），遂采食一口。刚入口时，鹿只觉其味极苦。须知醋栗入口后转瞬便会回甘，难道不是吗？可初尝之时确实苦涩异常。你可有过这般体验？鹿食罢醋栗，暗自立下誓言：‘这般难以下咽的果子，我绝不再碰！若再偷吃，便遭天雷劈中！’ 发完誓后，鹿便返回家中。归途行至一处溪涧时，它俯身饮水，只觉溪水甘冽清甜。尽管已然立下重誓，鹿却因这绝佳的口感，折返至醋栗树下，又采食了更多醋栗。就在此时，一道天雷劈中鹿身，其前额被雷电击穿。故事就此落幕。
