Coastal Data System - Waves (Hay Point)

Measured and derived wave parameters from data collected by a wave monitoring buoy anchored at Hay Point. This site is jointly operated by the Department of Environment and Science and the [North Queensland Bulk Ports (NQBP)](http://www.nqbp.com.au/). \r\nFor more information please refer to [www.qld.gov.au/waves](https://www.qld.gov.au/waves). \r\n \r\nField names are; \r\nHs - Significant wave height, an average of the highest third of the waves in a record (26.6 minute recording period). \r\nHmax - The maximum wave height in the record. \r\nTz - The zero upcrossing wave period. \r\nTp - The peak energy wave period. \r\nPeak Direction - Direction (related to true north) from which the peak period waves are coming from. \r\nSST - Sea Surface Temperature as measured by a sensor embedded in the bottom of the hull of the buoy.
